Friday 7 October

Registration, dinner and opening night

The 2016 Bash opened with registration, sponsor stalls, pre-dinner nibbles, dinner, the official opening and the Golden Pick Trivia Challenge.

3:30 pm

Registration opens

At the Recreation Room. Registration was required to participate in activities, and Friday fish dinner and Saturday night tickets could be purchased when registering.

4:30 pm

Sponsor stall displays and stalls

Open throughout the Bash around the Recreation Room.

5:00 pm

Pre-dinner nibbles

At the Recreation Room, provided by Laanecoorie Lakeside Park.

6:00 pm

Fish BBQ dinner

Cooked by the Carisbrook Lions Club. $8.00 including oysters and salads. Dinner tickets purchased when registering.

7:30 pm

Welcome to the Bash

Welcome and thanks to the committee, sponsors and helpers for getting the year’s Bash underway.

7:45 pm

Official opening of the Bash

Opened by Mayor Neil Beattie from the Loddon Shire.

8:00 pm

Golden Pick Trivia Challenge

Conducted by Adrian Panow. Prize for the winning team.

9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Entertainment

Music from the 50s to the 80s by Mark Oliver, with announcement of the trivia winners.

Saturday 8 October

Tours, lectures, hunts and the memorial presentation

Saturday in 2016 mixed training tours, token hunts, lectures, gold panning, raffles, dinner and the Jim Stewart Memorial Trophy presentation.

Morning

Breakfast and registration

Breakfast by the Carisbrook Lions Club and coffee from Rize and Grind, with registration open for most of the day.

9:00 am - 12:00 noon

Gold & Relics detector training tour

Three-hour training tour. Maximum of 8 trainees. Bookings essential. $50.00.

9:00 am - 10:00 am

Token Hunt 1

At the back of the volleyball court. Multiple token colours and prize chances.

10:00 am - 11:00 am

Lecture by Rob Brouwers

Parks Victoria lecture at the Recreation Room.

11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Vehicle and personal preparation lecture

Lecture and demonstration on remote travel areas such as the Canning Stock Route and Simpson Desert.

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

How to find patches of gold

Talk by geologist Andrew Bales in the Recreation Room.

2:00 pm

Token Hunt 2

Second token hunt at the back of the volleyball court.

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Questions and answers with John Gladdis

Goldfields discussion and Q&A at the Recreation Room.

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

How to get the best out of your detector

Talk by Andrew Grech "Grechie".

Kids Gold Nugget raffle draw

Outside the Recreation Room.

4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Remote area preparation lecture

Second vehicle and personal preparation session near the Recreation Room.

5:00 pm

Stake Your Claim

Run by the Victorian Panning Association near the Lakeside Cabins. Claims bought Friday and Saturday for $5.00 each.

6:00 pm

Spit roast dinner

Dinner by the Lakeside Caravan Park. $15 per head. BYO plate, utensils, drink and camp chair.

7:30 pm

Jim Stewart Memorial Trophy presentation

Followed by posthumous recognition of Costa Dee for service to the Gold Detecting & Prospecting Forum.

8:45 pm

Lecture and rescue talk

Talk on bush incidents followed by Senior Constable David Crane from the Victoria Police Search & Rescue Squad.

8:45 pm - 9:45 pm

Raffle and music

Drawing of the raffle, then music from the 50s through the 80s by Mark Oliver.

Sunday 9 October

Guided tour, final hunts and closing

Sunday carried breakfast, a final training tour, guided local history content, the last token hunt, winner announcements and the close of the Bash.

John Tully led a guided tour and history lecture of the goldfields around Laanecoorie. Please car pool.

Token Hunt 3

Final token hunt at the back of the volleyball court.

11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Final Andrew Bales talk at the Recreation Room.

12:00 pm

Lunch break and final auction registration

1:00 pm - 1:15 pm

Winner announcements

Announcement of the Token Hunt winner and Guess the Weight of the Nugget winner.

1:15 pm

Big Auction of donated items

Credit card facilities available for big ticket items only.

2:30 pm

Closing of the Bash

Followed by payment and pick up of auction purchases.
